PURPOSE:To prevent image quality from becoming unstable due to unsatisfactory take-up of an ink donor film, by setting a take-up rate of the ink donor film to be greater than the moving speed of a main body. CONSTITUTION:When a main body 1 is moved on a recording material in the direction of an arrow A, a traveling roll 2 and a driving roll 3 are rotated at speeds according to the velocity of the main body 1. An encoder 7 supplied with the rotation of the roll 2 through a belt 6 generates a position signal, and a thermal head 4 is driven according to an image signal with a scanning timing based on the position signal. In this case, an ink donor film 20 is drawn out in the direction of an arrow B on the basis of a nipping pressure between the head 4 and a recording material and the movement of the main body 1, whereby printing on the recording material is performed. Simultaneously, the rotation of the driving roller 3 is transmitted to a take-up roll 13 through a driving wheel 3a, a belt 8, a transmission roll 7, a transmission gear 11 and a take-up gear 12, whereby the take-up roll 13 is rotated to take up the film 20 at a rate greater than the moving speed of the main body 1, so that the film 20 is prevented from sagging or skewing.
