PURPOSE:To enhance thermal sensitivity and enhance water resistance, moisture resistance or the like of developed color images, by producing a thermal recording material by providing a thermal color forming layer comprising a leuco dye and a phenolic compound of a specified general formula on a base. CONSTITUTION:A leuco dye, a phenolic compound of formula I (wherein X is hydrogen, chloro, methyl or methoxy) and a binder, a sensitizer and a filler are mixed with each other in particulate states to prepare a coating liquid for forming a thermal color forming layer. The coating liquid is applied to a base such as a paper, a synthetic paper and a plastic film, followed by drying to provide the thermal color forming layer, thereby obtaining a thermal recording material. Examples of the compound of formula I include compounds of formula II and formula III, and such a compound is preferably added in an amount of 2-5 times by weight, based on the leuco dye. When the thermal recording material is subjected to thermal color development, a chalking phenomenon does not occur, and developed color images with excellent water resistance, moisture resistance or the like can be obtained. |
