PURPOSE:To obtain the title acoustooptical device avoiding striae and in good yield by using the face vertical to a lifting axis of the block cut out from a lead molybdate single crystal on the three specified faces as the laser light transmitting face. CONSTITUTION:A lead molybdate single crystal is grown by using <100> as the lifting axis 9. The crystal is cut in round slices as shown by the cutting lines 10, and (100) face 11 vertical to the lifting axis 9 is formed. The slice is then azimuthally cut to form (001) face 13 and (010) face, and a rectangular block is obtained. The (100) face 11 is used as the laser light transmitting face, and the face close to a lifting center line 12 in the (001) face 13 is used as the transducer face.
