PURPOSE:To enable production of particles having superior characteristics to be used as packing material for high speed liquid chromatography by enclosing pitch in spherical network gel consisting of org. polymer. CONSTITUTION:Monomer for org. polymer, pitch, and polymn. initiator are mixed in a solvent and the monomer is polymerized in a suspended state. By this method, particles of pitch type material comprising pitch enclosed by substantially spherical network gel consisting of org. polymer are obtd. By heating the particles of the pitch type material, low boiling components in the pitch are removed, thereby forming pores in the particles, carbonizing also the pitch partly. As a result, superior packing material for high speed liquid chromatography having resistance to acid and base, sufficient hardness bearable to high pressure, and satisfactory stability during analysis and storage, capacity for holding a solute appropriately, uniform surface and appropriate pore size is obtd. |
