PURPOSE:To obtain hydrogen-type zeolite which is available as a solid acid catalyst or a catalytic carrier and has novel characteristics by using activated silica or the like obtained by the acid treatment of clay mineral having a laminar structure as a raw material silica content for producing zeolite Y and specifying the acidity of hydrogen-type zeolite and using a well-known method. CONSTITUTION:Hydrogen-type zeolite Y is produced with the well-known method. In this case, activated silica or activated aluminosilica obtained by the acid treatment of clay mineral having a laminar structure is used as a raw material of silica content for producing zeolite Y in this invention. After bringing it into contact with NH4 salt so that the acidity of hydrogen-type zeolite is regulated to a range within 0.5-1.0meg/g as <=-5.6 Hammett's acid strength function, it is calcined. As a result, hydrogen-type zeolite having novel characteristics is obtained by using easily available clay mineral as the raw material. |
