<p>PURPOSE:To provide a gas dam part which is free from transmission loss, gas leakage, etc. by stripping partially the sheath from an optical cable, disconnecting a tension member, connecting cores without any slack by means of a connection member having a means for adjusting length, and filling a dam resin in the cable. CONSTITUTION:The sheath 12C of an optical cable 12 in the part to be formed with a gas dam part 10 is stripped to expose a tension member 12A and an optical fiber core 12B. The intermediate part of the member 12A is disconnected and the disconnected parts are connected by means of a connecting member 14 having adhesion to a dam resin. A means 18 for adjusting length which consists of a sleeve 20 and hollow adapters 22, 22' and can extend the length of the member 12A is provided to the member 14, and the member 12A is connected by holding the core 12B slack-free. A dam resin 16 is filled in the cable 12 across the sheath parts on both sides, whereby the gas dam part 10 is formed.</p> |
