PURPOSE:To perform variegated printing by a plurality of large pens, by providing a position correcting means to a pen chuck mechanism holding a plurality of the pens, and providing a memory for storing the stroke between the pens to said means. CONSTITUTION:A plurality of pens 15 are mounted to a carriage 7 movable in parallel to a printing surface P in a rising and falling state. After paper 3 is printed by the specific pen 15A, printing is performed by the other pen 15B. In this case, said pen 15B is selected by a pen selection means and, on the basis of the memory storing the change-over stroke between the pens provided to a position correcting means, a carriage 7 and the paper 3 are regulated so as to move in directions crossing to each other at a right angle to move the pen 15B to a predetermined set position and, thereafter, the pen 15B is allowed to fall and a pen tip 15a is brought into elastic contact with the printing surface P to perform printing. Since the other pen can be moved accurately and easily, the use of a large pen becomes possible. |
