PURPOSE:To maintain a favorable conveyance by making a skew correcting stopper member which can be advanced in a direction perpendicular to a document conveying direction advance and retract to and from a conveying passage by means of an operating member, and making said operating member unoperatable at the time of conveying a document. CONSTITUTION:A document 7 is inserted into a conveying passage 1 along a table 23, and a pair of inserting rollers 10, a pair of intermediate rollers 11, and a pair of discharge rollers 12 are rotated in the arrow directions respectively, to convey the document 7. And, a stopper member 13 is advanced into the conveying passage 1 and the end edge 7a of the document 7 is brought into contact with the stopper member 13 and skew is corrected. Then, the stopper member 13 is returned to its original retracted position. Thereby, the document 7 is conveyed by the pair of intermediate rollers 22. On the other hand, when a special document is conveyed, since the stopper member 13 is left in a standby position, the document 7 is conveyed by the pair of intermediate rollers 11 without its skewing corrected by the stopper member 13. Thereby, the wrinkle or breakage of a document can be prevented, maintaining a favorable conveyance.
