PURPOSE:To enhance the capacity of the title sieve to separate and refine desired matter at high temp. by arranging many hollow carbon fibers in the same direction, opening both ends of each fiber, and filling the gap between the respective fibers with an air-permeable material to form the molecular sieve. CONSTITUTION:A hollow carbon fiber is cut to about 5-10mm length, the cut fibers are packed in a 'Teflon(R)' vessel 5, an electrostatically charged bakelite plate 6 is pressed on the fibers from the upper part of the vessel to vertically arrange the fibers. Phenol resin is poured between the vertically arranged fibers, the resin is cured, and then the material is sliced to an appropriate thickness to form a molecular sieve 1. The obtained molecular sieve 1 is a plate wherein the carbon fibers 3 having a hollow 4 are dispersedly arranged in the same direction and the gaps between the respective fibers are filled with the phenol resin 2. When the molecular sieve is used, the desired matter can be separated and refined even at high temp. |
