PURPOSE:To obtain a filter element excellent in durability at low cost by pressurizing and calcining both a sheet-shaped screen and a sheet-shaped member for reinforcement to mold them integrally and thereafter forming it into a prescribed shape. CONSTITUTION:After both a sheet-shaped screen member 1 consisting of a wire gauze or the like made of stainless steel and a sheet-shaped member 2 for reinforcement consisting of a thick stainless plate or the like wherein honeycomb-shaped holes are punched are overlapped at a sheet-shape, which are molded integrally by pressurization and calcination to obtain a sheet-shaped member 3. A filter element A is obtained by forming all parts of the sheet- shaped member 3 or a necessary part cut out therefrom into a cylindrical shape or the like while using a pressurizing roll, etc.
