PURPOSE:To aim at improvement in ignitability at the time of starting, by installing a glow plug at the more upstream side than the center line of a nozzle hole to a sense of a swirl to be generated by a swirl generating suction port. CONSTITUTION:In this engine, there are provided with a swirl generating helical suction port 6 and a swirl damping suction port 7. And, a glow plug 2 is installed at the more upstream side than a nozzle hole center line A pointing to the glow plug 2 of a fuel injection nozzle 3 to a sense of a swirl to be generated by this helical port 6. With this constitution, since the sprayed fuel quickly comes into contact with the glow plug, ignitability at the time of starting is improvable.
