PURPOSE:To obtain a received picture with similar picture quality to that at normal reception even at the substitution reception by providing a paper size storage means storing the size of loaded recording paper and using the stored paper size information as a receptible paper size and replying it to a caller. CONSTITUTION:The paper size storage means storing the size of recording paper loaded when a recording means records a picture is provided and in case of the substitution reception, the paper size information stored in the paper size storage means is replies to the caller as the receptible paper size. Thus, in case of the substitution reception, since the paper size in matching with the operating state of the facsimile equipment is informed to the sender side, the disadvantage of deteriorating the picture quality of the received picture at the substitution reception is avoided.
