PURPOSE:To obtain a still picture with high picture definition by photographing a still picture obtaining a video signal by 2 field by the exposure executed once per one frame period and reproducing the video signal by 2 fields alternately and repetitively at every field. CONSTITUTION:The still picture photographing obtaining video signals S1, S2 by 2 fields is applied by the exposure executed once during one frame period and the video signals S1, S2 by 2 fields are reproduced alternately repetitively at every field to apply picture reproduction. Since the video signals S1, S2 for 2 fields are obtained by one exposure, even when the video signals S1, S2 by 2 fields obtained by photographing a moving object are reproduced based on the interlace system, no fogging is caused in the still picture. Moreover, since one still picture is constituted by the video signals S1, S2 by one frame, the deterioration in the vertical resolution is not caused.
