NEW MATERIAL:The compound of formula I (X is halogen; R<1> is alkyl; R<2> is -CH2CH2O- or -CH2CH2CH2O- wherein said oxygen atom is bonded to the right-hand carbonyl; m is 1-2; n is 1-4). EXAMPLE:1,3-Bis(dimethylchlorosilylpropoxycarbonyloxy)propane. USE:A foaming agent and water-repellent. PREPARATION:A bis(allyloxycarbonyloxy)alkane of formula II is made to react with a silane compound of formula III (e.g. alkyldihalogenosilane) in the presence of a catalyst (preferably a platinum compound such as platinum black, chloroplatinic acid, etc.) usually in a solvent such as benzene, chloroform, etc., preferably at -20-+160 deg.C for several tens min - 40hr.
