PURPOSE:To omit various stirring mechanisms and stirring space of a developing device using a two-component developer, to remarkably miniaturize the whole device, and to facilitate handling, by providing a toner supplying means and a toner recovering means on a magnetic brush. CONSTITUTION:The titled device is provided with a magnetic brush for supplying toner to a latent image on a latent image carrying body 11, in a toner developing area, a toner supplying means for supplying the toner charged in a toner supplying area to this magnetic brush 14, and a toner recovering means 18 for recovering the toner which remains on the magnetic brush 14 in a toner recovering area. The toner charged in the toner supplying area is supplied to the magnetic brush 14 side by the toner supplying means 24, and development is executed. After the development, the toner which remains on the magnetic brush 14 is recovered by the toner recovering means 18 in the toner recovering area, unevenness in toner concentration is eliminated, and thereafter, the magnetic brush is returned again to the toner supplying area. In such a way, the whole device is miniaturized and the handling property and the durability are improved, and a two-component developer can be handled as a one-component developer.
