PURPOSE:To improve gas absorptivity on a negative electrode by forming separators in composition containing hollow resinous fibers which are excellent in acid-proof and oxidation-proof properties and whose inner walls are provided with water-repellent processing. CONSTITUTION:Each hollow fiber 1 is made of polyethylene terephthalate PET resin excellent in acid-proof and oxidation-proof properties. Its diameter is 30 mum and its central part is penetrated by a hollow part 2 which is about 10 mum in diameter and provided with water-repellent processing. The amount of an electrolytic solution required for a cell reaction is absorbed and retained in the separators. However, because the hollow parts 2 of the hollow PET resinous fiber 1 are provided with water-repellent processing, the electrolytic solution 4 is not absorbed and gap parts are formed in the separators. Hence, O2 gases are easily diffused to a negative electrode side through these hollow parts 2 without being interrupted by the electrolytic solution 4. |
