摘要 In a rotary scan magnetic tape transport, mistiming between the prerecorded control track signal and the prerecorded information signal tracks is compensated for by automatically advancing or retarding the phase angle of the rotary transducer assembly in discrete steps in response to a measured magnitude and direction of the timing error. During preliminary servo modes of the tape transport system in preparation for reproducing a prerecorded information signal, the tape is initially driven by a capstan servo so that synchronizing pulses carried by the tape control track assume a preselected phase relationship with a reference signal. The rotary transducer assembly is driven to phase synchronize with the same reference signal and is thereafter selectively advanced or retarded in phase in accordance with a detected timing error between the control track and the reproduced information signal. Thereupon, the capstan servo is coupled to synchronize the control track and thus the longitudinal tape position with the rotation of the transducer assembly while the assembly is rotatably driven to synchronize the reproduce information signal with the reference signal.
