PURPOSE:To allow high-precision polishing and improve polishing efficiency by coagulating a liquid containing abrasive grains and pressing and moving it on the machined surface as a polishing member. CONSTITUTION:A polishing member 2 has a high-density layer 2A coagulating and freezing a liquid with high distribution density of the abrasive grains and low-density layers 2B, 2B coagulating and freezing a liquid with low distribution density of the abrasive grains, the high-density layer 2A is pinched by the low- density layers 2B, 2B in a sandwich form, and they are fitted to a holder 4. The polishing member 2 is pressed by a transmitting member 6 to the machined surface, and the polishing member 2 is moved or slid in the arrow direction while being rotated. Then, since the high-density layer 2A of the abrasive grains is located in the center, the abrasive grains completing the polishing action in the melted liquid between the polishing member 2 and machined surface 1A are carried to the outside by the liquid in the low-density layer 2B portion of the abrasive grains, new abrasive grains are invariably fed between the polishing member 2 and machined surface 1A. Accordingly, high-precision polishing is allowed, and also the discharge and feed of abrasive grains can be efficiently performed, thus the work efficiency is improved. |
