PURPOSE:To reduce the forming cost of a computer system by executing the on-line transaction processing in a hot stand-by state via a computer of a stand-by system when a time-out state is detected by a watchdog timer of a computer of a working system. CONSTITUTION:A watchdog timer 211 is added to a computer of a working system including a CPU 21 which executes the on-line transaction processing. While a computer of a stand-by system including a CPU 22 is kept in a hot stand-by state right before execution of the on-line transaction processing including software. When the timer 211 detects a time-out state, the computer of the working system informs its breakdown to the computer of the stand-by system via an inter-computer communication mechanism6. Then the computer of the stand-by system executes the on-line transaction processing of a hot stand-by state. Thus the increment is avoided for forming cost of a computer system.
