PURPOSE:To obtain the titled yarn having low solution haze, an oil pickup and the maximum coefficient of surface friction in specific ranges, nonspherical yarn section, excellent gloss which has never existed, stable yarn manufacturing properties and high qualities. CONSTITUTION:The aimed yarn which has <=2.5 solution haze, 0.7-1.5wt% oil pickup, <=1.8 maximum coefficient of surface friction, nonspherical yarn section and preferably a triphyllous shape of 1.5-2.0 modification degree of section. The yarn is preferably obtained by subjecting polyester having <=2.5% solution haze to melt spinning from a nonspherical spinneret, coating the yarn with a finishing oil and drawing the coated yarn. In order to make the solution haze of raw material polyester <=2.5, terephthalic acid is directly polymerized by the use of a Ge compound as a catalyst and preferably the amount of granules formed in the polyester is reduced as much as possible.
