PURPOSE:To enable repeated usage and to form an image with high contrast, by providing a first thermal layer having transparency variable reversibly with temperature onto one face of a transparent supporting material, while providing a second thermal layer having tone variable reversibly with temperature onto the other face. CONSTITUTION:In a reversible thermal recording material, a first thermal layer 2 mainly composed of resin basic material and organic low molecule substance dispersed in the resin basic material and having transparency variable reversibly with temperature is provided onto one face, while an aqueous or water soluble polyester resin layer 3 and a second thermal layer 4 mainly composed of reversible thermochromic material and having tone variable reversibly with temperature are provided onto the other face. The surface of such recording material is heated to temperature of T3 or higher then the temperature is lowered to normal level lower than T0 so as to make the first thermal layer opaque entirely, thereafter the temperature is risen to T1-T2 so as to make the heated portion of the first thermal layer transparent and exhibit or change the color at the heated portion of the second thermal layer, thus forming a clear image with high contrast. |
