In known positive displacement devices, a regulating ring is arranged on the moving displacer and, for regulation, is displaced axially relative to the latter. The displacement makes severe demands on the accuracy of the positioning device. It is here that the invention provides an improvement. The device according to the invention has a regulating ring (18) which is rotatably mounted in the housing (12) of the device via spherical guide surfaces (19) and surrounds the moving displacer (11) and rotates with the latter. Control ducts (21) and holes (22') between the regulating ring (18) and the moving displacer (11) permit very fine metering since the rotational position (phase position) of the regulating ring (18) relative to the moving displacer (11) is varied by means of a positioning device (30). Applications: metering of liquids or gases, for example in the pharmaceutical or food industry. <IMAGE>
