PURPOSE:To measure continuously a temperature by a pen recorder without any disadvantage such as trouble in assembly by providing an optical fiber in the bottomed tubular hollow chamber of an ignition plug, and receiving an infrared ray emitted by heating the tip of a center electrode. CONSTITUTION:An insertion hole 2 is formed in the center part of an insulator 1, a bottomed tubular center electrode 3 is fitted in the hole 1, and the bottomed tubular part 3a is projected out by the length M of 0.2-2mm. A pipe 4 made of copper is arranged concentrically in the electrode 3, the optical fiber 5 is inserted into it, and the end part is brought into contact with the bottom part of the tubular part 3a integrally. The other end part of the optical fiber 5 is extended out and connected to a detector. Here, combustion is carried out in a combustion chamber and when the temperature of the plug tip part is raised, the tubular part 3a generates an infrared ray. This is received by the fiber 5 and sent to the detector, which converts it into an electric signal, so that the pen recorder records the temperature in the combustion chamber continuously through a specific processor. Thus, there is not the danger of the breakage of the tubular part 3a and accurate temperature measurement is performed for a long period. |
