A clamping device for a tool on a machine tool, in particular an electrical discharge sinking machine, is described, having a chuck which has a receptacle for a draw-in bolt as well as two pairs of strips which project from the underside of the chuck, are arranged in a right-angled cross and are provided with reference surfaces for orientating the tool in an x-direction and a y-direction with respect to the machine tool, a tool holder which can be connected to the tool having a plane surface in which two pairs of grooves orientated crosswise are cut, and the tool holder having a centre bore with coupling elements for the releasable reception of the draw-in bolt. In order to permit quick coupling and release of the draw-in bolt to and respectively from the tool holder, provision is made for the coupling elements to have at least one web projecting into the centre bore and at least one strip projecting radially at the bottom end of the draw-in bolt, and for an axially displaceable slide to be held at the draw-in bolt near its bottom end (Fig. 3). <IMAGE>
