A comminution drum for autogenous grinding with feeding at its one open end, passage of the material and discharge through the perforated drum casing and at the other end is mounted at its abovementioned one end by means of a ring bearing (9) which is held in a pivoting manner on hinged columns (8) in pivoting bearings (25) and at its other end via a driven shaft (7) which is mounted in a self-aligning bearing (6). These bearings can, in contrast to known air ring bearings, be closed and are thus protected from contamination. <IMAGE>
