PURPOSE:To form a thick membrane, uniform and smooth, by disposing a plurality of rolls closely to each other horizontally, rotating all of the rolls in the same direction, while by rotating a pickup roll contacting an applicator roll in the reverse direction to a plurality of rolls. CONSTITUTION:Coating materials in a coating pan 9 are adhered to a pickup roll 2 rotating in the direction of arrow mark B, and the adhered coating materials are transferred to an applicator roll 3. Part of the transferred coating materials is adhered to a transfer roll 4 upstream of the rotating direction A of the applicator roll 3, while remaining part rotates and moves together with the applicator roll 3, piles up on a position downstream where both rolls 3 and 4 meet on the coating materials of the applicator roll 3. Said piled coating materials are adhered to a steel plate S on a backup roll 1. By controlling the peripheral speed of each roll and roll gaps, the thickness of coated membrane is adjusted.
