In an exhaust system with two catalysts (21, 23) for an internal combustion engine (1) having two cylinder blocks (2, 3), the exhaust fume stream from each cylinder block is divided into two identical partial streams, and one partial stream from each cylinder block is blended with one partial stream from the other cylinder block and fed to a catalyst (21 or 23).
