Oxidation of cyclohexane - to cyclohexanol and cyclohexanone with removal of acid impurities with ammonia solution

Removal of acids from the crude products of the oxidn. of cyclohexane with oxygen-contg. gases in the production of cyclohexanol and cyclohexanone is effected by treating the products with aqs. NH3 soln. at 120-160 degrees C and 5-15 atmospheres and separating the aqs. and organic phases. Process allows removal of acid impurities without emulsion formation.
