PURPOSE:To ensure a high thermal transfer speed and obtain a transferred image having excellent fastness, particularly, excellent light resistance, by using a predetermined anthraquinone dye for a thermal transfer sheet. CONSTITUTION:An anthraquinone dye of the formula, wherein each of R1, R2 and R3 is alkyl, cycloalkyl, phenyl, alkoxyl or mono- or dialkylamino, can be obtained by a known production method in which a 1,4-disubstituted anthraquinone having an amino group, hydroxyl, halogen, sulfonic acid group or the like is subjected to alkylamination and arylamination by use of a sec- alkylamine (H2NCHR1R2) and an aniline derivative. When an alkyl or the like is selected as R1-R3, the molecular weight of the dye is increased to be more than 350 or 400, but the melting point of the dye tends to be lowered, so that the thermal transfer speed of the dye from a thermal transfer sheet to a transfer recording material is increased, even with heating by a thermal head or the like for an extremely short period of time, and an image excellent in fastness, particularly, light resistance is obtained. |
