PURPOSE:To obtain a color still picture with high horizontal resolution, vertical resolution and S/N by recording three-primary color signals sequentially in each track of a magnetic sheet, and synthesizing respective primary color signals being sequentially reproduced into a composite color video signal. CONSTITUTION:Primary color signals R, G, B from a color TV camera 2 and a composite synchronizing signal S are supplied to image recorder/reproducers 4A-4C; each of the recorder/reproducers 4A-4C generates an FM video signal for recording, and records it. Also, reproduced FM video signals R+S, G+S, B+S from the respective recorder/reproducers 4A-4C are supplied respectively to synchronizing signal elimination circuits 8A-8C respectively via time base error correctors 6A-6C. Thus signal S-eliminated primary color signals R, G, B are respectively made an illuminance signal Y+S, a color difference signals R-Y, B-Y by a decoder 10, thereafter, inputted to an encoder 12. Thus a compos ite color video signal of NTSC system is synthesized, then supplied to a picture displayer 1.
