摘要 PURPOSE:To obtain good durability and S/N by forming the titled recording medium in such a manner that the diagonally vapor deposited film formed along a rotary base consists of fine columnar particle groups and that the fine columnar particles are magnetically divided in the thickness direction. CONSTITUTION:This recording medium is so formed that the diagonally vapor deposited film formed along the rotary base consists of the fine columnar particle groups and that the fine columnar particle groups are magnetically divided in the thickness direction. More specifically, the fine columnar particle 5 constituting the thin ferromagnetic metallic film are magnetically separated to ferromagnetic part I, 7 and ferromagnetic parts II, 8 by nonmagnetic sepn. layers 6. The fine columnar particles 5 are obtd. by executing diagonal vapor deposition while moving a high-polymer film 4 along the rotary base which is a cylindrical can, endless belt, etc. The formation of the nonmagnetic sepn. layers 6 for magnetical sepn. is adequately executed by projecting a focused ion beam once or required number of times from the start of the diagonal vapor deposition before the end thereof. The degradation in the durability which arises when the fine columnar particle groups 5 are not divided in the thickness direction is thereby prevented and since said groups are magnetically divided in the thickness direction, the S/N is improved.
