4-Hydroxy 2-methyl N-(5-methyl 2-thiazolyl) 2H-1,2-benzothiazine 3-carboxamide 1-dioxide of formula (I), for use as a medicament with anti-inflammatory properties, is made by reacting an ester of formula (II), in which R is an alkyl gp., with 2-amino 5-methyl thiazole in an inert solvent with high b.pt., e.g. xylene.
