<p>Stable oil-in-water/alcohol emulsions. Useful as substitutes for diesel fuel and/or light heating oil. Continuous phase is a mixture of water/alcohol. Discontinuous phase consists of heavy, waxy oils whith more than 50 % alkanes and a pour point down to 5°C. Oil phase volume accounts for 40 to 65 % of the emulsions total volume, emulsifiers and cetane value enhancers are added. Emulsions are easily flowing at -40°C having a viscosity of less than 300 cp, combustion yields lower degree of soot and NOx than traditional fuels. Emulsions are resistant to bacteria growth.</p> |
