An airflow distribution device comprises a plenum chamber (6) with an air diffuser plate (3) having a plurality of dimples (4), each having relatively small openings (5). The dimples (4) provide a simple structure for causing air to be discharged from the air diffuser plate (3) parallel to the base (7) of the unit. A damper plate having apertures registering with the dimples is provided on the inside of the diffuser plate and can be slid laterally to provide damping. <IMAGE>
