PURPOSE:To make a brushless structure without exciter easily and efficiently, by specializing the pole structure of an axial field rotary machine. CONSTITUTION:In an axial field rotary machine an armature winding 101 is provided to the stator side and a field winding to the rotor side. An exciting winding 102 is provided to the stator. The configuration is to serve as both the magnetic circuit in which the armature winding 101 interlinks and another magnetic circuit in which the exciting winding section 102 interlinks. The relation with the number of poles brought about by causing the exciting current to flow through the exciting winding section 102 is to be 1 for one pole and 2 for the other. Exciting voltage is made to generate in the rotor exciting winding section by cutting the poles with the rotor exciting winding section which are produced by causing the exciting current to flow through the exciting winding section 102. With this exciting voltage the field winding section is excited in causing the current to flow.
