The torque wrench has a handle made of rectangular cross-section tube and a socket, to receive a fitting for the bolt head or nut, at one end. At the other end there is a hand grip with separate piece (3) attached to the main part (7) of the grip by parallel links (4,6). When the torque wrench is used, the torque is applied by pulling on the separate piece so that it is pressed towards the main part of the grip against the resistance of a leaf spring (11). This force can be adjusted by a stop (18) screwable in or out. The deflection of the spring is a measure of the torque applied by the wrench and is indicated on a scale on the grip. |
