Method for starting the gasification of solid fuels in a fixed bed

For starting, superheated steam at elevated pressure is first passed into the fixed bed of the gasification reactor. When the fuel has then been heated to temperatures from about 200 to 260@C, oxygen-containing gas is fed in, the partial oxidation of the fuel and its further heating taking place under the gasification pressure. The oxygen-containing gas used is preferably a gas mixture containing O2 and CO2, with a CO2 proportion of 20 to 95% by volume. Subsequently, the gasifying agent mixture containing oxygen and steam is passed into the fixed bed of the reactor.
