PURPOSE:To execute desired color adjustment with simple method by multiplying a color correction coefficient with each color signal so as to apply matrix masking and adding a color adjustment coefficient to a color correction signal thereby applying color adjustment based on the three primary colors in an original. CONSTITUTION:A signal obtained by applying color separation to an original is inputted to a matrix masking circuit 101 as input density signals B, G, R after pre-processing, prescribed arithmetic operation is executed and sent to an adder circuit 102 as output density signals YO, MO, CO before color adjustment. Moreover, the signals B, G, R are inputted to a color output deciding circuit 103, where color deciding outputs DS, DG and DR of the original are obtained, the result is given to the color adjustment masking circuit 104, color adjustment quantities Y, M, C are obtained based on the color adjusting coefficient from a color adjustment coefficient circuit 105 and each color discrimination output and the result is fed to the circuit 102. As a result, the output density signal before color adjustment and the color adjustment equantity are added for each color to obtain output density signals Y, M, C.
