PURPOSE:To improve azimuth accuracy by the reduction of errors by calculating the amplitude difference between a maximum amplitude and a 2nd amplitude and the amplitude difference between the 2nd amplitude and a 3rd amplitude on both sides of the maximum amplitude. CONSTITUTION:Receivers 2a, 2b...2n having logarithmic detection characteristics are provided in correspondence to directional antenna 1a, 1b...1n arranged at equal intervals in a certain azimuth angle range and a 1st selecting circuit 3 selects a beam having the maximum amplitude among the outputs of respective receivers and outputs the amplitude as the 1st amplitude. A 2nd selecting circuit selects beams on both sides of the beam with the maximum amplitude, i.e. larger beam as the 2nd amplitude and smaller beam as the 3rd amplitude and outputs them. The 1st and the 2nd amplitude values obtained by the selecting circuits 3 and 4 are compared with each other to find the azimuth by a 1st angle arithmetic circuit 5 and the 2nd and the 34d amplitude values obtained by the selecting circuit 4 are compared to find the azimuth by a 2nd angle arithmetic circuit 6. The azimuths outputted by the angle arithmetic circuits 5 and 6 are inputted to an averaging circuit 7 to find the mean value between the alues and output it as the azimuth.
