<p>An emergency transport neck immobilizing brace (210) incorporates a frame structure (212, 214) adapted for mounting on the shoulders of a patient suspected of having a neck injury and securable to the body of the patient by straps (242, 244, 250, 252). The brace frame mounts a head halter (270) with a two-point strap suspension arrangement (280, 282) and a ratchet mechanism (288) which can be pivoted out of operative position or into operative position for placing the patient's head in traction. Inflatable cushion devices (300, 302) limit forward, backward and lateral movement of the patient's head after being placed in traction and provide an air cushioned restraint. Front and rear headbands (326, 328) provide an alternative restraining method.</p> |
