PURPOSE:To shorten and simplify a program by collectively using the group of index values in a range specified by an instruction for the formation of an effective address of the same instruction. CONSTITUTION:A base address holding means 11 holds a base address, one or more factor value holding means 12 holds factor values and an index value sequence generating means 10 generates all sequences consisting of the same number of index values as the number of factor value holding means 12 consisting of values such that the absolute values of all the values are <=an index upper limit value specified by an instruction and the absolute value of at least one value is >=an index lower limit value specified by an instruction. An effective address forming means 1 forms a value obtained by adding the inner product of the sequential vector of the index values generated by the means 10 and the factor value vector of the factor values stored in the means 12 to the base address stored in the means 11 as an effective address indicating an object to be operated by an instruction.
