<p>1275466 Coated paper DENKI KAGAKU KOGYO KK 29 July 1969 [31 July 1968 15 Nov 1968] 38004/69 Heading B2E [Also in Division C3] Paper is coated with an aqueous pigment containing as binder a saponified copolymer obtained by saponifying not less than 75% of the acetate groups in a vinyl acetate-acrylamide copolymer having an acrylamide content of 0.5-40% mol, the content of saponified acrylamide groups not exceeding 3% mol and applying with or after the pigment composition at least one zinc or aluminium salt which is water-soluble and colourless in aqueous solution. Up to 3% of a third monomer may be present in the polymer, e.g. acrylic or crotonic acid or methyl acrylate. Clay is the preferred pigment optionally with calcium carbonate and titania or alumina and also present may be sodium pyrophosphate or metaphosphate, styrene-butadiene copolymer latex and methylated methylol melamine.
