PURPOSE:To improve the life of an infrared fluorescent lamp by controlling the amount of sealed mercury in response to the coated amount of Fe<3+> activated Li(Al, Ga)O2 phosphor used in the fluorescent lamp. CONSTITUTION:In a fluorescent lamp luminescing efficiently with ultraviolet rays of around 750nm generated by the low pressure discharge of mercury, the amount of sealed mercury y is controlled at a relationship of x/y>=4 against the coated amount of Fe<3+> activated Li(Al, Ga)O2 phosphor xg. Thereby, the short life characteristic of the lamp is improved due to the use of Fe<3+> activated Li (Al, Ga)O2 phosphor, and the fluorescent lamp is available with a long life longer than a rated lamp life required for an OCR light source, etc. |
