PURPOSE:To prevent a system with a fault from working by starting a diagnostic program when a digital exchange system rises, sequentially executing the diagnosis of respective components in accordance with the diagnostic program, displaying the diagnosed result in a corresponding fault display, and executing the initial diagnosis of a digital exchange. CONSTITUTION:With using the diagnostic program of a program storage means 4, the components 21-2n are sequentially diagnosed, and a display control means 12 displays the diagnosed result of a diagnosis means 10 which recognizes the normality of the components in the fault display corresponding to diagnosis components 6i(i=1-N). If the exchange system is raised, the diagnosis means 10 uses the diagnostic program of the program storage means 4 and sequentially diagnoses the exchange components from a main controller 21. The display control means 12 permits the fault display which corresponds to the diagnosis components to display the diagnosed result. Thus, the fault in the exchange system can be detected in an early stages, and the exchange system can be prevented from working as it is.
