<p>PURPOSE:To efficiently recover the valuable metal at a low cost of ferric chloride by roughly releasing copper from metallic wire scrap beforehand by electrolysis when the metallic wire scrap is treated with a ferric chloride soln. to recover copper as the chloride. CONSTITUTION:For example, the scrap of a copper-coated titanium-niobium wire is cut into pieces, the pieces are packed in the anode dish 7 of an electrolytic cell 4 filled with an electrolyte 5, and a Ti sheet 9 is dropped over the scrap wire to keep the close contact of the pieces with each other. When electrolysis is carried out by using a cathode 6, the copper ion is eluted from the scrap in the dish 7 into the electrolyte 5 and transferred toward the cathode 6, and the copper is uniformly deposited on the surface of the cathode. As the electrolysis proceeds, the respective metals in the wire scrap are released, and the flocculated TiNb wires 2 are separated apart from each other. When the copper is roughly released, the electrolysis is stopped, the scrap wire remaining in the dish 7 is treated with the liq. mixture of ferric chloride and hydrochloric acid, and the remaining copper is separated from the TiNb alloy and recovered.</p> |
