PURPOSE:To prevent hammering by a method wherein a specified amount of noncondensable gas is enclosed in a heat pipe. CONSTITUTION:A heat pipe has noncondensable gas in it with 7.0X 10<-6>-7.3X10<-4>mol per liter of an internal volume of a container. As the noncondensable gas, H2, N2, Ar, Ne and the like are applied. When a part of the heat pipe is heated, noncondensable gas is pushed by evaporation flow and accumulated at the condenser part. Therefore, when a bumping occurs, a block of liquid moving toward the condenser part is prevented from being struck against an end cap due to a presence of noncondensable gas. If an am ount of noncondensable gas is less than 7.0X10<-6>mol per liter of an inner volume of a container, an effect may not be attained, if in turn it exceeds 7.3X10<-4>mol, a lower limit of working temperature of the heat pipe is increased or a length of the part not acting as the condenser part is elongated and so the heat pipe may not practically operate.
