The splined cylinder according to the invention consists of three separate elements: a. the body (2) of the cylinder (1) is a cylindrical block having transverse grooves (5) of the same dimensions, uniformly spaced over its entire periphery, b. plates (3) performing the function of teeth and having the form of a right-angled parallelepiped, the length of which is approximately equal to that of the body of the cylinder, the width (L) of which is such that each plate can be placed according to its width onto the bottom and against the flanks (6, 7) of a transverse groove (5) and the height of which is greater than the depth of such a groove (5), c. holding bars (4) fitted with fastening means (8), the length of each bar being approximately equal to that of the body (2) of the cylinder, and each bar (4) being shaped in such a way that, with at least one plate (3) placed according to its width in a transverse groove (5), the said bar (4) can fit into the same groove (5), at the same time bearing on the lateral face of the plate (3). <IMAGE>
