Each module (1a) comprises a frame (2a, 32a, 4a) supporting a cooking surface (3a), which overhangs the frame over its perimeter and whose transverse edges are free. Strips (5, 6) of a flexible elastic sealing material made of an elastomer of alimentary quality and heat resistant are placed between the transverse elements facing the frames of two adjacent modules (1a, 1b), which are applied against each other by the free transverse edges overhanging their cooking surfaces (3a, 3b) and linkage means are provided in order to demountably connect the said elements by compressing the sealing strips between them in order to provide the seal. The faces at the end of the appliance are sealed in the same manner, the axes of the control accessories are equipped with seals, butt-joint covers with protective flaps direct spillages into drip trays. The constituents of the appliance which are located at the front and on the top are provided with means for linking together, at the frame or at the cooking surface, which protect against infiltration or with means for recovering spilled liquids. Sliding flaps shut off the ignition and control openings. <IMAGE>
