Filling for blank or practice ammunition - consisting of polychlorina naphthalenes or chlorinated polyphenyls

As inert masses for filling practice or blank ammunition (e.g. artillery shells) there are employed polychloronaphthalenes and/or chlorinated polyphenyl mixtures. These have bery high chemical stability, display little tendency to sedimentation when used together with inert solid particles, and are impermeable to water and steam. Their density is of the same order as that of TNT and they are filled into shell casings at about the same as in TNT, so that TNT-contg. shells can readily be closely copied.
