PURPOSE:To make recognizing work highly efficient by inversely displaying all characters in a word when the existence of the word concerned is rejected as the result of spelling check, and displaying all underlined characters of the word corrected by spelling correcting processing. CONSTITUTION:All proposed words selected by the spelling correcting processing are checked at their spelling and words having probability are retrieved. When a probable word is detected as the result of the retrieval, i.e. when the word completely coincides with a certain word registered in a word dictionary 17, all characters of the proposed word are underlined and displayed on a display part 22. When no probable word can not be detected, all the characters of the word obtained before the spelling correcting processing, i.e. the recognized result of the word concerned, are inversely displayed. Consequently, the correcting work can be reduced.
